Upstairs, Downstairs at L&E
~Downstairs~ French75 Bistro
The historic dining room at 59 Main Street which has for over 50 years, been home to three different restaurants, has now turned a new page.
The French 75 Bar has moved. It beckons from the dining room to those who pass by the storefront windows. Welcome to the French 75 Bistro.
French antiques, mirrors and decorative changes create a lively and vibrant atmosphere.
When the 75 Bistro opens on Saturday March 24th, its menu will include traditional favorites such as French Onion Soup with three cheeses and braised oxtail, Coq au Vin with Hedgehog mushrooms or perhaps “Trois petits cochons” Three Little Pigs with Braised Red Cabbage Slaw. The wine List will feature specially priced Bistro wines by the bottle and glass.
Upstairs at L&E
In April, a team led by local builder Dan Bednarz will renovate the second floor of L&E which formerly served as an apartment and office, into a stunning dining salon and garden roof deck, the only one of its kind in the area, perfect for alfresco dining.
Upstairs at L&E will offer an elegant dining experience showcasing Chef Everett Reid’s specialties. The menu will continue to incorporate local and seasonal products with French flair.
In addition Upstairs at L&E will be a exceptional venue for private parties and celebrations with family and friends.

About Restaurant L&E
Restaurant L&E is Linda and Everett Reid’s third restaurant venture together. The Reids have been partners since 1985 when they opened American Seasons Restaurant on Nantucket Island, where their innovative American regional menu captured the attention of both local and national press.
History
Chef Everett G. Reid III’s Culinary background includes training at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, the Cordon Blue in London and restaurants in Manhattan and Boston. Over their ten year’s as owner operators at American Seasons, they received great exposure from the Boston Globe and New York times and Everett was featured in the PBS television series and cookbook, Great Chefs of the East. American Seasons consistently received the highest rating possible in the Zagat Restaurant Guide. American Seasons still exists today under new ownership at 80 Centre Street on Nantucket Island.
Linda, who does the Wine List for Restaurant L&E, initially developed her passion and knowledge of wine at American Seasons where the wine list repeatedly won an Award of Excellence from the Wine Spectator, as well as coverage from the Boston press for being one of the first excellent “All American” lists on the East Coast.
Moona Bistro, also located on Nantucket Island was the couple’s second venture and was a foray into European Bistro food and wines.
Those who make it all possible
While the building at 59 main street has been serving food and wine to visitors and residents of Chester and the surrounding communities for over 30 years, it is the people who work inside the building that make it a restaurant. We are fortunate to have working with us many of the original waiters from Restaurant Du Village.
And OUI Madame Christine est ici. Chrisitine Bastian is still today, as she has been for over twenty years, bringing her special French hospitality and warmth to guests new and old.
